We believe that historic buildings and heritage places can become much more than places that preserve the past. They can become living spaces for people, creativity, learning, culture, connection and wellbeing. Our vision is to identify heritage buildings and places across England that are empty, underused or at risk of losing their connection with the community, and explore how they can be carefully restored, respected and brought back into active use. We want to create spaces where the heritage of each place remains at the heart of its identity, while opening the doors to new opportunities for art, culture, education, skills, employment, movement, community participation and wellbeing. By bringing people into these places to learn, create, work, share knowledge, develop skills, experience culture and connect with one another, we can help protect the heritage of the place while also creating new opportunities for the people who live there. Our ambition is to help historic places remain alive, relevant and valued — protecting their stories from the past while creating new stories for the future.
We always have exciting new projects in development, and this one is especially important.
Our First Aid Walk-In Art Workshop brings free, creative sessions directly to Barnet high streets, giving people of all ages and backgrounds a safe space to relax, express themselves, and boost their wellbeing.

Our mission goes beyond simply teaching or facilitating art.
We recognise that many individuals in our community face challenges ranging from disability, mental health struggles, social isolation, or life circumstances that make everyday connections difficult. Through carefully designed creative experiences, we aim to provide a safe, supportive space where participants can explore their emotions, regain confidence, and experience joy in a nurturing environment.
Art is not the end itself—it is the vehicle for emotional well-being, social connection, and personal growth. Every brushstroke, collaborative project, or creative session is designed to help individuals find a moment of peace, express themselves freely, and build meaningful relationships within their communities. By integrating art with care, guidance, and social engagement, we create experiences that support mental, emotional, and spiritual resilience.
Our programs specifically focus on children with additional needs, such as physical or learning disabilities, neurological conditions like epilepsy, or emotional and social vulnerabilities. We provide inclusive workshops where every child can explore creativity at their own pace, discover new skills, and feel valued. By offering art as a therapeutic and confidence-building tool, we aim to empower children and their families, helping them navigate challenges while fostering a sense of belonging and achievement.
Beyond children and families, The Creative Hearts CIC reaches older adults, community groups, and faith-based organisations to address loneliness, social disconnection, and the mental health impact of isolation. Through collaborative events, seasonal projects, and community gatherings, we create spaces where participants can connect, share, and support one another, building stronger, more resilient networks within Barnet.
Ultimately, our purpose is not art for art’s sake—it is art as a catalyst for healing, confidence, and community cohesion. Every activity is designed to leave participants feeling uplifted, engaged, and supported, providing both immediate joy and long-term social and emotional benefits. By focusing on creativity as a means of empowerment, The Creative Hearts CIC nurtures individuals while strengthening the social fabric of our neighbourhoods.
Art for schools, Parents & children With Financial needs.
At The Creative Hearts CIC, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of financial circumstances, has access to high-quality arts and wellbeing programs. Many schools face budget limitations that make it difficult to provide regular art activities or creative workshops. We work directly with these schools to offer free or low-cost after-school clubs, art sessions, and seasonal community events, helping children develop confidence, creativity, and emotional well-being. By bringing accessible art programs to schools and community spaces, we aim to foster a sense of inclusion, spark imagination, and create meaningful experiences that children might otherwise miss.
Join our volunteers to help us make it happened
Our mission is to use art as a transformative tool to support vulnerable members of our community—children with disabilities, children with epilepsy, children needing additional wellbeing support, families, older adults, and other community members across Barnet. We believe that creative expression is more than just making art—it is a way to build confidence, reduce social isolation, improve mental well-being, and foster meaningful connections across generations.
Through our structured workshops, after-school clubs, seasonal community events, and collaborative art projects, we aim to bring creativity directly into care homes, schools, chirches, synagogues, and community centres.
These activities provide participants with opportunities to explore their imagination, develop new skills, express themselves safely, and engage with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Art becomes a bridge: it helps children overcome challenges, supports older adults in reducing loneliness, and creates shared experiences that strengthen community bonds.
To make these initiatives possible, we rely on passionate volunteers who can help us in many ways. Your support could take multiple forms, including:
Art facilitators and teachers: guiding workshops, running art sessions, and helping participants create projects.
Art students or assistants: supporting the main facilitators, preparing materials, and assisting participants.
Social workers or wellbeing mentors: helping us ensure participants feel safe, supported, and included.
Event coordinators and logistic volunteers: setting up venues, managing resources, and organising activities.
Community outreach helpers: promoting sessions, engaging local families, schools, and groups, and connecting with community centres and synagogues.
Administrative and fundraising support: helping with communications, volunteer management, reporting, or assisting with grant applications.
Photography and documentation volunteers: capturing workshops and events to share our impact with the community and funders.
